Learn more about autism

Autism Central have launched a free online training course called ‘understanding autism’ for personal assistants. This online training course is aimed at paid carers of autistic people who would like to gain a deeper understanding of autism and how best to support the autistic people they work with.  

If you employ a personal assistant who would benefit from completing this training, please share the course with them.

What is a personal assistant (PA)?

A personal assistant (PA), is also known as a support worker or a paid carer, they work directly with one or more individuals to support them with aspects of daily life.

I'm not a PA, can I do the course?

The online course is only for PAs (also known as a support worker or a paid carer).

Who developed the course?

The content for this course has been developed by Autism Central with training consultants from the National Autistic Society and autistic writers. The course was reviewed by our Expert Reference Group, a group of subject matter experts and people with lived experience. Read more about the group and co-production.
