351 Maidstone Road
Overview
351 Maidstone Road offers support for people with learning disabilities and associated complex needs including autism and Asperger’s Syndrome or those who present behaviours which appear ch5allenging. The service is also able to accept referrals from individuals who have some mobility needs.
We can also offer transition services for young adults who are leaving school or who are at risk of placement breakdown. We currently provide support to five individuals with a range of needs.
There are opportunities to continue education through our links with local colleges and to seek employment. The staff team look for creative ways to support people to develop the skills required for independent living, such as budgeting, maintaining good health, personal safety and managing their household responsibilities.
Our Staff
The staff team work with individuals who present complex behaviours in a proactive way, supporting each person to develop and use personal coping strategies. We retain the services of a consultant psychiatrist and psychologist to ensure a multidisciplinary approach and appropriate support.
Our Environment
The service is a large, detached house with a spacious communal back garden, lounge, dining room, kitchen, and quiet area. All the bedrooms have ensuite washrooms, three with their own shower for added independence. There is an annex including a separate lounge, kitchen, and large bedroom with an ensuite bathroom giving greater independence for an individual requiring less support or more personal space for someone requiring intensive one to one support.
Our Location
351 Maidstone Road is located within a quiet suburban area of Wigmore in Medway, approximately 45 minutes from London and within easy reach of local amenities and transport links.
We have a house car and there is a bus stop within five minutes’ walk which has buses into town or to the local shopping mall. Alternatively, we are only a 20-minute walk from Rainham train station meaning people can travel independently. This offers great access to activities and events, such as bowling, swimming, and taking trips to Riverside Country Park or the seaside. We also enjoy joining people from other local services for parties! We support each person to plan and book a holiday, with recent trips including holidays to France and Chessington World of Adventures.
