Action for Children - Bucks Activity Project
Action for Children
Action for Children run the local service Bucks Activity Project, which was set up to provide play and leisure opportunities for children and young people with disabilities in response to the review of the provision of services to children with disabilities by Dr Philippa Russell in 1999. In the review it was recognised that children with disabilities and their families are potentially at risk of social exclusion due to poor access to services, venues and related social networks..
Our Services:-.
- Holiday Activities: Bucks Activity Project runs fun packed activity days during the school holidays. This summer they have a huge range of fun things to do such as water sports, bowling and cinema trips. The activities range in age appropriateness but there is something for anyone aged between 5-19 years old. An activity fee per child or young person will apply.
- Weekend Clubs: Bucks Activity Project offer weekend breaks across the county. The sessions will be for three hours and an activity fee per child or young person applies.
- Community Outreach: One of the newest services is “Community Outreach”, which means supporting a disabled child or young person in society to take part in an activity of their choosing to help reach their full potential. Sometimes it can be daunting to go to a new club like scouts or brownies on your own so an inclusion worker could go along with your child to make sure that they settle in and get the most out of their experiences.
