Adult Autism Diagnostic Service

The service provides assessment, treatment and advice for people who are suspected as having an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and require a definite diagnosis. Following confirmation of a diagnosis, the team can offer time-limited sessions to provide further support with a range of emotional, behavioural or occupational issues commonly associated with autism. The team can also provide signposting advice for, and support with access to, other appropriate services eg health, social care or support group. The service operates on a multi-disciplinary model of local and community based assessment and diagnosis and works alongside existing Specialist Health Services, Local Authorities, independent and voluntary services.

Assessment procedure/tools used: Autism Spectrum Quotient (AQ), Empathy Quotient (EQ), Sensory Integration Checklist, Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule-2 (ADOS-2), Royal College of Psychiatrists Interview Guide for the Diagnostic Assessment of Able Adults.

Multi-disciplinary assessment: Clinical Psychology, Psychiatry and Occupational Therapy Nurse Specialist.
