The courses are run by Val Goldberg who is a chartered psychologist and has a BA and MSc. She has over 20 years experience as a trainer in a range of organisations. She run courses in communication and social skills for people with Asperger syndrome and high functioning autism and their families. Topics will vary acording to the needs of the group and requirements of funding providers but usually include getting to know people; starting, maintaining and ending conversations; telephone skills; anger; anxiety; dealing with teasing and bullying; relationships and how they differ; coping with change; and initiating and maintaining friendships. We also run courses specifically aimed at helping participants to get and retain jobs and cover communication and social skills related to the workplace. We now also run groups funded by the Big Lottery Family Learning Fund for young people aged 12 to 16 where each attends with a parent or adult family carer. Each course is run in a venue appropriate to the location of participants.
