Autism East Midlands (formerly NORSACA)
Autism East Midlands (formerly Nottinghamshire Regional Society for Adults and Children with Autism) was founded in 1968 by a group of parents in Nottingham who were seeking a better education and future for their children.
The charity now supports autistic children, adults and their families in Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, Northamptonshire, Lincolnshire and Leicestershire.
The service includes:
- Day services that provides care, activities and socialising for autistic adults
- Dedicated employment service to assist autistic service users in finding work
- Family support hubs taking place monthly across several counties
- Monthly social meet-ups for autistic adults
- Online Parent Workshops
- Residential accommodation and supported living
- Training in autism awareness for employers and organisations
Autism East Midlands also runs Sutherland House School, first opened in 1970, the school provides a highly specialist education provision for autistic children and young people between 3 and 19 years and is based in Nottingham. Referrals are considered on a rolling basis.
