Cambria House is a large detached house situated just 2 minutes walk away from the busy town centre, approximately a mile away from bus and railway stations and 3 miles away from the M3 motorway, in a one-way street with easy access to all the shops, cinemas, college and sport centre amenities. Registered for 8, the home provides for service users with mild learning disabilities and associated complex personal and emotional difficulties. Cambria House aims to maintain a supportive and stimulating environment, providing high standards of individual care designed to meet specific needs with extensive use of local community amenities. Cambria House promotes self-help and community integration by encouraging independence and personal achievement in living skills, social development, communication and education, whilst at the same time preserving and upholding individual self-determination, privacy and dignity. Cambria House takes care to meet individual physical and emotional needs, encouraging development through preferred activities and nurturing positive relationships with staff and peers. Referrals can be made by a Social Worker/Care Manager or directly from parents themselves. However, before assessment can take place the Care Manager acting on behalf of the service user must be consulted.
