Carers of Epsom

Carers of Epsom

Carers of Epsom is now a charity actively supporting around 2000 Carers in Banstead, Epsom and Ewell. In addition they also host the Mid Surrey Moving & Handling Advisory Service which also extends to Mole Valley and East Elmbridge. If you are looking after someone with an illness or disability, you may need to help them move around. It's essential that you know about safe moving and handling so you don't hurt yourself or them. The Mid Surrey Moving & Handling service is a free service for Carers, advising and demonstrating how to safely move and help the person you care for. The service can also advise about suitable equipment and has a small stock of items which can be borrowed whilst Carers are awaiting the supply of permanent items..

Their professional Carer Support Workers offer:
• Emotional support - seeing Carers in their own home, in our office, or within the safe environment of a support group
• Contact with others - providing mutual understanding, support and friendship
• Social activities - these are a very important part of the Carers' life and outings are organised throughout the year
• Reducing the feeling of isolation - many Carers experience this
• Information - regarding appropriate local services. We also offer assistance in accessing services when required
• Assistance - with benefits claims and form filling
• Advocacy - speaking and acting on behalf of Carers..

The 'Take a Break' scheme administered by Carers of Epsom helps people take a break from caring by providing financial assistance towards the cost of going on holiday or taking a short respite break.
