Clear Sky Therapies
David A. Walton is a Consultant Counselling Psychologist with over 23 years of experience of working with adults and young adults (from 16.5 years old) with a broad variety of issues including Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) within the National Health Service (NHS) as both a diagnostician and as a therapist. He continues to practice both in the NHS in a specialist team for Adult ADHD, Autism and Tourette’s Syndrome, and also offers private diagnostic assessments for adults with possible Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASDs) as well as ADHD.
David is also a highly experienced psychological therapist working with both neurotypical clients and those with Autistic conditions, Asperger syndrome, and ADHD (including coaching).
He offers support and guidance in addition to therapy. Indirect consultancy is also offered to support families, staff, carers and employers. Psychological therapy is based on a variety of approaches including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Systemic Theory, Mindfulness and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Diagnostic assessments are detailed and include the use of internationally recognised diagnostic tools, structured interview with individual and family member and a developmental interview.
All assessments begin with a brief screening assessment in order to determine if a full assessment is the best way forwards. Once conducted clients receive a confirmation letter indicating the outcome and recommendations whether a full assessment is indicated or not. The diagnostic tools used for Autism / Asperger’s syndrome are the Adult Autism Assessment (AAA), Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule (ADOS), and Diagnostic Interview for Social and Communication Disorders (DISCO).
The tools used for an ADHD assessment are based on the Browns Attention-Deficit Disorder Scales (Brown ADD Scales), Diagnostic Interview for ADHD (DIVA-5.0) and Test of Everyday Attention (TEA). All assessment and treatment is professional, empathic and designed to help with what is best for each individual. David is a registered member of the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). David provides comprehensive independent expert reports and is able to make home visits.
