Clinical Psychology Specialist in Autism - Assessment and Therapeutic Support - Dr Alex Edwards (Clinical Psychologist)

Dr Alex Edwards provides a professional and caring Clinical Psychology service specialising in the diagnostic assessment and support of autistic children and young people and their families.

Alex works with a specialist multi-disciplinary team to provide diagnostic assessment for Autism. The team offer a caring and supportive assessment process, using the 'gold standard' autism assessments of the ADI-R and ADOS-2. The assessment process also includes school/college liaison and options of a language assessment, sensory profile assessment, or cognitive assessment. The team also specialise in the assessment of autistic girls and can support with understanding around a PDA profile. We are able to offer additional support and outreach at home to support children who are not able to attend a clinic setting for the assessment.

Alex often helps children and their families with concerns relating to emotional well-being (such as anxieties or low mood), behaviours (such as concerns relating to sleep or challenging behaviours), and supporting emotion regulation and communication.

Dr Alex Edwards is based in Hertfordshire. Face to face appointments available at clinics in Wheathampstead and Hatfield. Remote online video and telephone appointments are also available. Before focusing on private practice Dr Alex Edwards has over ten years experience of working as a Clinical Psychologist in the NHS. She is a registered Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).
