Discovery Programme - Cardiff University
Discovery is an outreach programme for autistic young people who may be interested in coming to university one day. It offers an insight into university life and the skills you might need to thrive at university and beyond.
The Discovery programme includes:
- a weekly project: participants come onto campus at Cardiff University to complete workshops on a range of subjects, such as budgeting and managing energy. We run groups for participants in school years 9-11 and school year 12+ (or age equivalent, if they are not in school).
- a Summer School: a 3-day residential event, where participants stay in halls, attend various sessions, cook their own meals, and take part in social activities. The Summer School is designed to give a real flavour of university life and study. For young people aged 16+.
- an online project using Minecraft for Education: explore some of Cardiff University’s buildings through Minecraft, and meet staff, student ambassadors, and fellow participants. Participants will take part in some fun challenges and learn more about university.
- a Quiet Visit Day
- an Academic Taster Day
Participants may also receive extra support for applying to and thriving at university through visit days and information, advice, and guidance sessions.
We also offer information and advice to parents and supporters.
