Dumfries and Galloway Advocacy Service

Dumfries and Galloway Advocacy Service

Dumfries and Galloway Advocacy Service is an independent charitable company that has been providing independent advocacy since 1993. Independent Advocacy is about empowering people and to ensure their voice is heard.

We work within Dumfries and Galloway to express our clients' views, wishes, and feelings. We are as free from conflict of interest as possible and work separately from other services. Our Independent Advocates strive to stand by our clients and ensure that their voices are expressed without compromise.

An Independent Advocate works on a one-to-one basis with clients to find solutions to their issues and help them understand the options that are available to them while protecting their rights and ensuring they are treated with respect and dignity.

We provide independent advocacy for people with Autism who live in Dumfries and Galloway or who access services in this area. Most people refer themselves to us, and others are referred by professionals, including doctors, nurses, social workers, relatives or care workers. It does not matter how you contact us, whether by phone, by dropping in, by letter, via our website or by email. If you feel we can help you, please feel free to get in touch in the way that suits you.

We also provide Independent Advocacy to people with mental illness, learning disability, people under Adult Support and Protection, Self-Directed Support, young people aged 18-25 and to Unpaid Carers.
