Enable Ireland CDNT Cavan | EarlyBird Plus
The EarlyBird Plus programme (by the National Autistic Society) aims to equip parents and carers to develop a greater understanding of their child’s needs, following a diagnosis. The programme also aims to develop a consistent approach across settings (eg home and school). We encourage parents and carers to attend the sessions with a professional who is working regularly with their child.
Parents are able to attend the programme without a supporting professional if they do not find someone available on the date. Our programme empowers parents and professionals to understand more about autism and the needs of the autistic children they support.
Topics include:
* communication and interaction
* using structure to support the autistic child in a range of settings and situations
* developing social skills
* understanding and supporting the child’s behaviour
* problem solving.
An EarlyBird Plus parent book is provided to each family attending the sessions.
