Gary Spencer-Humphrey BA (Hons), LL.B (Hons), PGDip, PgD, RSW, MBASW Gary is an Independent Social Worker with an adults' health and care career dating back to 2005. He is a dual registered social worker in England and Wales, a warranted Approved Mental Professional (AMHP) and a Best Interest Assessor / Approved Mental Capacity Professional. Gary holds range of professional and professional qualifications in social work, law, counselling, advanced mental health practice and safeguarding adults. He is also the holder of the CPD Civil Procedural Rules Expert Witness Certificate for Family Law and Civil Law, administered by Bond Solon. Gary is regularly instructed in matters relating to mental capacity, the Court of Protection, mental health assessments and NHS continuing healthcare appeals. Gary has occupied a range of practitioner, supervisory and management roles across the spectrum of health and care since 2005. He has held seasonal posts as an academic tutor for a leading distant learning institute from 2012 and he guest lecturers at Bournemouth University for the School of Nursing and Midwifery. Also in 2012, Gary was appointed by the Lord Chancellor to sit on the Mental Health Review Tribunal as a Specialist Member hearing various referrals and appeals under the Mental Health Act 1983. In 2015, Gary set up his independent practice offering a range of specialist care services which later was incorporated into Social Worker Gary. In 2017, Gary was nominated and won a national social work award for his contribution towards community-based social work. In 2019, Gary won the Lawyer Monthly Expert Award for the category of Social Care - UK. Gary holds a professional indemnity insurance package via BASW and is registered with the National Expert Witness Agency.
