Lighthouse School
Lighthouse School is a specialist secondary school for autistic students. Our vision is to deliver transformative experiences - that are destination led – for all of our students and their families. All of our students have a diagnosis of autism, an EHCP and can access group teaching. We have a cohort of around 93 students and our class sizes are approximately 12-13 students per class with a flexible staff ratio of 1 member of staff to every 4 students.
We deliver a broad, ambitious and balanced curriculum that enables our students to make excellent progress and gain nationally accredited qualifications in Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5. In addition to academic studies, students access a variety of life skills in social and enrichment activities. These activities focus on the personal development of our students; developing communication skills, social relationship skills, independence, employability, and personal emotional wellbeing skills.
Subject Specialists teach our curriculum, we have a dedicated Wellbeing Team and our own Speech and Language Therapists onsite. We also access support from Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapists and Occupational Therapists. Our Training and Outreach Team support schools and colleges within the region to enable their autistic students to access their education.
