Positive Response Training

Positive Response Training

Positive Response Training provides Positive Behaviour Management Pro (PBMpro) training to organisations in the public, private and voluntary sectors throughout the UK and Europe. The training is certified by the British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD) and complies with the Restraint Reduction Network Training Standards.

The training is suitable for use in learning disabilities and autism (adults & children), older people, acquired brain injury & mental health settings, providing improvements and solutions to organisations across a range of services areas.

Courses include 1-day, 2.5-day or 3-day care staff courses and a 9-day train-the-trainer course which enables organisations to run their own in-house training.

PBMpro emphasises a proactive and preventative approach for managing behaviour that challenges. It focuses on understanding the function of behaviours and facilitating the construction of proactive plans to improve the quality of life of the individual. The training model has a strong values base, promoting the importance of inclusion and social validity.

PBMpro also emphasises the importance of a gradient of support in which the least intrusive approaches (defusion/distraction) are employed before more intrusive approaches (breakaways/safe holding) are introduced. All the techniques included in the training programme avoid the use of pain, provide a uniform response for dealing with behaviour that challenges and are tailored to meet individual need.
