Shenstone School
All pupils at Shenstone School have Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) as their primary area of need. However, most pupils also have additional needs supported in addition to their SLD. Including, Autism, ADHD, hearing impairment, global development delay, visual impairments, complex medical issues and speech and language disorder. 10% of our pupils have a Profound & Multiple Learning Difficulty.
All pupils require input from SaLT and OT at varying degrees as outlined on their EHCP. Some pupils require physiotherapy and input form VI and HI services. Many children have complex healthcare issues.
We support a mix of pre verbal and verbal pupils, predominantly pupils are pre verbal, all pupils require a personalised approach to their communication.
As of September 2022, Shenstone School has had its designation changed to become an all-through specialist school for children with severe and complex learning difficulties. We will eventually support pupils from 3 - 19 years old and have welcomed our first year 7 cohort at a third (temporary) site in Belvedere. We await the building of the “Shenstone Secondary'' provision in Belvedere from September 2023.
Shenstone School is located across three sites: Sidcup, Crayford and Belvedere.
