Socrates Psychological Services Ltd offers: an initial consultation in response to individual, parental and/or professional concerns; a timely multi-disciplinary assessment tailored to the individual including an autism specific developmental history including pre-natal and peri-natal factors, family history, social circumstances, educational, employment and social experiences; a thorough assessment of present and past communication and language skills by using observation and standardised tests; a cognitive assessment using a standard psychometric test; autism specific assessment of interaction, social communication and behaviour, using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule and other diagnostic tools related to the diagnostic criteria specified in ICD 10 and DSM V; observation in the day to day environment with family or peers when appropriate. Further to the assessment the Socrates ASC team will provide: a profile of strengths, skills, impairments and needs; a written report; supportive feedback to the individual and to parents/carers when appropriate; information about local support groups and services; advice about any other referrals which may be required. Further follow up by the Socrates ASC Team can be negotiated.

Assessment procedure: Uses ADOS, Psychometric Assessment, DISCO.

Multi-disciplinary assessment: Yes. Includes Child Psychiatrists, Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists and Educational Psychologists.
