Values (Voluntary Action LeicesterShire)
Values provide support for individuals with a learning disability to volunteer so they can access social and leisure activities, travel training, volunteering and employment. Volunteering takes place in groups or one-to-one and long term support or support to become independent in placement is offered. Placements are found on an individual basis and possibilities include charity shops, hospitals, older persons’ homes, gardens and office/administration. A referral or personal budget is required. Employment support is offered in areas such as getting ready for employment, searching and applying for paid work. They also provide support during interviews and in the early days. Social and leisure activities can be accessed using a personal budget and are available in groups or one-to-one. Activities include bowling, pool, libraries, museums, drama, music, art, cinema, theatre, swimming and other sports. One-to-one travel training is also available.
