Online forums for autistic adults
Perhaps you’ve recently found out you’re autistic and you’re waiting for a diagnosis or you’ve known that you’re autistic for years. Wherever you are on your autism journey, it can be helpful to share your experiences with others. There are several online forums where autistic adults can meet to have a chat, discuss topics around autism and get support.
When choosing a forum, always make sure to check what the community rules are, how posts are moderated and how your data is shared. We have listed forums for autistic adults that are run by not-for-profit organisations and that are regularly monitored and moderated below.
You can also search for groups for autistic on Facebook and other social media platforms. However, please be aware that these groups are often not strictly moderated, so the quality of content and posts can vary.
If you’re using online forums, always make sure to keep your personal information safe and don’t publish any details that could help others identify who you are. Sometimes online community members do become friends in real life, but if you are arranging to meet anyone you’ve met online in person, please take care and make others aware this is happening for your own protection.
