What is autism?

Autism is a way of being, a different way of thinking and processing the world.

Autism is a spectrum which means that how people experience autism is different for everyone. Each autistic person has a unique set of strengths and challenges.

A huge amount of knowledge and understanding of autism has been gained from autistic people over recent years. Their reflections on their experiences have helped shape a much better understanding of autistic differences and ways to support autistic people from an autistic perspective rather than a “non-autistic” one.
